Joe Biden to prioritize legal status for millions of immigrants (Jan19, 2021)

News

President-elect Joe Biden propose to roll out a sweeping overhaul of the nation’s immigration laws the day he is inaugurated, including an eight-year pathway to citizenship for immigrants without legal status and an expansion of refugee admissions, along with an enforcement plan that deploys technology to patrol the border.

Analysis

The proposed legislation is expected to  offer a pathway to citizenship for the millions of undocumented immigrations currently living in the United States. The legislation, which has already been drafted, includes an immediate path to citizenship for participants of the ‘Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals’ program and ‘Temporary Protected Status’ program, among others, ‘Border Technology’, and ‘Aid to Central America’ etc. More than legalizing the residency of hundreds of thousands of Immigrants, mainly from the Latin and Central American neighborhoods,  the initiative is expected to  ease availability and cost of  blue collar jobs in the United States. This will benefit Industries and businesses to a great extent and is likely to be reflected in the economic growth reflected from high industrial production.
